Tri Delta Celebrates Record Fundraising Year
News, Philanthropy | August 17, 2016

In one record-breaking year, Tri Delta has raised over $11 million for philanthropic causes, including national philanthropic partner St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, local and regional children’s cancer charities across North America and the Tri Delta Foundation.

The Tri Delta Foundation fulfills Tri Delta’s Purpose of “assisting its members in every possible way” by raising and granting funds to provide academic scholarships to deserving undergraduate and graduate members, financial assistance to sisters in need; and educational and leadership grants to help women live, learn and lead with Purpose.

Over the last biennium, the Foundation awarded more than $430,000 in scholarships, nearly $120,000 in needs-based assistance and $100,000 in education and leadership grants, for a total of $650,000 in support of its collegiate and alumnae members.

This support included the Foundation’s inaugural, transformational Trilogy award – a $16,000 scholarship awarded to Sarah Shore, Rhodes, that allowed her to complete her undergraduate education and pursue her dream of attending medical school.

Through its national philanthropic partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Tri Delta continues to help children live, scientists learn and St. Jude lead in its mission of finding cures for childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.  In July, Tri Delta celebrated yet another record-breaking fundraising year for St. Jude, announcing a total of $7.9 million raised.  Since 1999, Tri Delta has raised more than $50 million in support of St. Jude’s life-saving mission.

In addition, Tri Delta’s 200,000-plus alumnae across the United States and Canada give generously of their time, talent and treasure in support of children’s cancer charities in their own communities. This year alone, Tri Delta alumnae have raised more than $1 million for organizations that include Cook Children’s Hospital, Scottish Rite Hospital, Riley Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital Los AngelesMD Anderson, Ronald McDonald House and CURE Childhood Cancer, Atlanta.
